HORROR TRAINS AND SUDDEN THUNDERSTORMS
We have been on the road for 1 week now. From Brasov, we took a day train to Timisoara, aka the horror train. It was so hot to travel during the day that we have made an agreement that in the future we only travel longer distances during the night.
Timisoara was a pretty city, with picturesque squares and bbq at the Timis-river.
Bbq was good, until the sudden thunderstorm. Raining until we had eaten the meat we did manage to prepare before the rain. When leaving, sun started to shine as hot as usual.
Yesterday morning we took a train (4h) to Belgrad. We did not have a clue about the Serbian capital, but it ended up showing its best as a wonderful city to explore with, once again, a great atmosphere. Until the sudden thunderstorm. And this time the storm became in 2 seconds, and this is true. In 2 seconds, we were completely wet and escaped to the nearest barbershop on that very street. We have never experienced such a storm. Wind, heavy heavy rain and thunder and lightning, very strong. The people in the barbershop were really nice to us, wanting us to stay until the storm is over. But it did not seem to end! So they gave us an umbrella and a couple of big plastic bags where we could put our bags (including passports etc.), to save them from getting all wet. We also put our sandals in the bag and continued walking the street back to the train station where rest of our luggage still were, bare feet! Quite an experience. The water actually reached until the ankles at some points!!! But the rain was warm so no problem. When we got to the station and got our bags, the sun started to shine as hot as usual.
Today we are going to visit Nicola Tesla museum, and explore the city more. Also, getting our tickets to next destination (Montenegro), is on the table for today. And getting a haircut for Virve at that same barbershop where they were oh so nice to us.
