NEW ZEALAND

12.5.
NEW ZEALAND. WAU. It's only second day here in Christchurch and it is so picturesque here that ... well haven't got words! Christchurch's Sumner beach is something that cannot really describe, so beautiful. Feels like actually walking on the ocean. Wondering... what is it like when we head to the mountains! And plus plus.. it is also warm! Christchurch welcomed us with +26! We were prepared for snow or at least cold rain. But here I am writing at the beach, not wearing a shirt. BUT as Melbournians put it: 'Weather not as it should be for you? Just wait a minute!'
I am really happy that we came here. Though still can't really understand that we actually are here. New Zealand is surprisingly far away from Australia. The size of that continent is a bit distracting at times, when looking at the globe or a world map. New Zealand is really hours of flight time away, completely isolated from the rest of the world, as the super careful inspections at the airport showed us. Tomorrow we are going to drive to the mountains by our rental Huyndai.

lapsilla ei ole täällä ahkiopulkkaa vetonarulla. heillä on surffilauta vetonarulla.

minkä takia astiat pitää pestä ennen kuin ne laitetaan astianpesukoneeseen?

You see all those pictures about the landscapes, lakes and mountains, how they are picturesque. And they in deed are. It is a constant wow still, walking or driving in the Lords Of The Rings. "Hey, that's where Gollum is propably hiding today." "Is that Frodo climbing there?" "Seeing any signs of Mordor yet?"
Need to watch the trilogy again when we are back in Finland.
Currently we are in Alexandra, Otago. We are going to drive a sort of a circle here in the South Island. Check the map: Christchurch - Twizel - Alexandra - Queenstown - (this far we are now) - Wanaka (tomorrow) - Franz Josef - Westport - (Nelson if we have time) - Kaikoura - Christchurch.
Weather up in the middle is varying from night zero to daily +15. Quite ok really, it has been dry weather, sunshine.
